Individual Counseling

Generally individual nutrition counseling is done on  a one to one basis. Spouse, parent, guardian, loved one are invited in initially for introduction, questions, concerns.

Initial visits are one hour.  During this time I will attempt to get to know the individual and the concerns that bring that person to seek my services.  Areas of particular concern  are medical status, current eating habits/struggles, emotional health, and up-to-date changes in eating habits.  Activity level, weight changes, and household eating habits/tendencies will also be discussed.  With an evaluation in progress, recommendations will be made for follow up care with myself and or/other appropriate health professionals.  Referrals will be made if appropriate, recommendations are made prudently.

Generally, follow up appointments are 30-45 minutes, on a weekly basis.  Frequency and duration of visits is recommended on an as needed basis, as perceived and discussed between myself and the individual.

Grocery store visits are offered, as well.  This can be very helpful when one is making changes in eating habits, or if one finds the grocery particularly overwhelming.   Grocery store tours are conducted in a discrete manner.

Therapeutic Meal Experiences are often helpful for an individual working on recovery from an eating disorder.  A  restauraunt or eating establishment is decided upon, based on individual challenges.

Walk and Talks can be very fun and successful, accomplishing two things at once--   exercise and nutrition counseling.  This is especially helpful for weight loss individuals to get that cardio up.  It is also helpful for people with a busy schedule.

Group Education

Real Life Nutrition also offers group nutrition education. Common audiences with Real Life are high school and college sport teams,  classrooms of all grades, parents groups, medical school students, sororities,  school faculties/coaches, clubs.
